An introduction to rescue work following structural collapse. Initial scene and structural assessment are combined with preparation for deployment. Key topics include rubble-site hazards, personal protective equipment and communication between rescuers.
Casualty location, lifting, structural shoring and breaching. Modules develop selected skills for teams with basic preparation for rubble-site operations.
This module focuses on locating casualties during collapsed-structure operations. Participants learn instrument-based methods and practise using search cameras and seismic listening devices on a prepared rubble site.
Training in lifting structural and large components during collapsed-structure operations. Basic static assessment is combined with practical lifting and stabilisation methods, teamwork and load support.
